Congratulations! We are celebrating 70th anniversary of our independence today.
How many of us remember Rani Lakshmi Bai or Bhagat Singh or the famous Lal Bal Pal?I know you would be surprised that where are the other names of our great freedom fighters! But tell me honestly how many of you remember ATS chief Hemant Karkare or Army Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan or Mumbai’s Additional Police Commissioner Ashok Kamte or even the name of Senior Police Inspector Vijay Salaskar who sacrificed their lives while combating with the terrorists of 26/11 attack?Or any one name of our soldiers fighting for our motherland in Kargil? I guess many of us doesn’t even know of their current designation they were holding at that time! Also we can’t even recognise them by their photographs!Am not exaggerating, just writing what I saw few months ago.I saw the survey of a renowned news channel and their conclusion was really shocking, the above martyrs of whom I mentioned the names were hardly recognised by many citizens of our country! Were these people weren’t the fighters who without worrying about their lives, without worrying about their families, gave up their lives very easily. The only difference between these two are that 1st group fought to free us from slavery of Britishers and 2nd group fought so that if any sort of invaders thought of ruining the peace of our country, they’ll think twice!Apart from this very small difference, all of those heroes has one motto and that motto was “FOR INDIA”!
In your view what is the real meaning of freedom? If you pickup a dictionary and search for its meaning you’ll find these things:”The state of not being a prisoner or a slave/not being affected by something undesirable”.Now use your brain and think, are we living in that country for which many of our own people bleed just to ensure that their upcoming generations will breathe the air for which we don’t have to grant permission from the outsiders? For me it’s a big “NO”!And the answer you know very well.Because we haven’t gained complete freedom. We got freedom from invaders from outside but what about those fears that still invade our mind and soul!Daily you’ll get to know in some part of our country, either a woman is raped or someone is murdered or get to know about terrorist attacks.
We are not safe in our own house! We are living under a thought of fear. This was the country who has epics of Ramayana and Mahabharat, women were truly given respect, they weren’t meant to be an asset for men or a toy for them to play with!
“TODD DO HAATH GARR HAATH UTHNE LAGE,CHHUNE PAYE NA SITA KA DAAMAN KOI. RAM HO TUM TUMHI LAKSHMAN SAATHIYO, AB TUMHARE HAWALE VATAN SAATHIYO”!
This was the motto of our country! What has happened to this? Those guards(some anti-social elements) themselves doing “CHEERHARAN”of not of a single woman but of the whole womanhood! Why? And we say it that we live in an independent India.
And this is not when we are down! For this generation, let it be 26th January or 15th August, it’s become a NATIONAL HOLIDAY! That feeling of patriotism is gone! Or you’ll see the whole patriotic feeling for these above days only(most of us)!
Adding up the sonnet of our martyrs won’t help us alone, the students need to know the importance of our heroes and most importantly their unconditional sacrifices for our motherland and for us! Instead of being thankful to them we mock over their names, make fun of their names. And one more thing why only on these days including 26th July,we remember them and thank them, why this can’t be for everyday? I mean this freedom, let it be from Britishers or for today’s era be the protection from the terrorists, is the outcome of our heroes selfless love for their motherland, for our motherland. And still we disrespecting them! It’s not worth it! We should be ashamed of ourselves.
Those heroes were born to serve the nation, and they did it well. Now it is our responsibility to make our country that “INDIA OF DREAMS,FOR WHAT THEY FOUGHT FOR”!
(Whatever I wrote is inspired by my surroundings, what I see & what I have felt. Please don’t feel offended, I just wanted to write the reality of today’s time.)
